Vaccination clinic opens today in Wellesley
Waterloo Region – Today, the Waterloo Region COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force is announcing that a vaccination clinic is opening in Wellesley at 3710 Nafziger Drive, Unit A. This rural location will make it easier for residents in Waterloo Region’s rural communities to get the vaccine, including older adults and other priority populations.
“It is a high priority of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force to open vaccination clinics in the townships for our rural community members,” said Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief for Waterloo Region Police Service and head of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “We appreciate that the Centre for Family Medicine Wellesley Site has partnered with the Woolwich Community Health Centre and the Elmira Medical Family Health Organization to operate and staff this vaccination clinic.”
When a steady supply of vaccine is available, the Wellesley vaccination clinic will be open seven days a week. Appointments are required.
“The Wellesley Site of the Centre for Family Medicine is excited to be bringing a COVID-19 vaccination clinic to the rural community in partnership with the Woolwich Community Health Centre and the Elmira Medical Family Health Team,” said Dr. Jen Jones, Family Physician. “Staff are all very eager to be increasing access to the COVID-19 vaccine for the residents of our communities.”
Currently, residents who belong to one of the eligible priority groups, including those 70+, can pre-register for the vaccine on the Region of Waterloo website: Pre-register for your COVID-19 vaccination. Following pre-registration, it could take up to four to six weeks to be contacted for an appointment.
