An entrance permit is required to install or change an entrance onto a private property from a public road. This is to ensure safe access to the property and maintain existing drainage patterns.
Who is responsible for the entrance?
Land owner is responsible for submitting the permit application. The installation or alteration to the entrance will be completed by the Township at the cost of the land owner. Once installed and approved the Township will assume ownership of the entrance and culvert.
Can an entrance permit be denied or modified?
If the proposed entrance does not met the required guidelines the Township can deny the permit or apply additional conditions to the installation as deemed necessary by the Director of Public Works. If any additional work is required to make the proposed entrance location safe then all costs will be borne by the applicant. Permit application fees are non-refundable.
Regional roads
If you are requesting an entrance permit off a Regional road you will be required to contact the Region of Waterloo and complete their application/payment for an access permit.
