Freedom of information process
The Township of Wellesley must follow the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection Act (MFIPPA). The purpose of MFIPPA is to make sure that the public has the right to information about their municipal government and about themselves or their property if that information is kept by the municipality. It also ensures that private information about a person or property that should stay private is kept private. The Township routinely collects information for various reasons but only uses it for specific purposes.
Anyone wishing to obtain information kept by the Township should contact the Clerk who will advise if a Freedom of Information Request is required or not. The FOI Request Form would need to be completed and returned to the Clerk's Office with a $5.00 fee.
If you are not satisfied with the response you receive to your request, you may contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) to have the request and response investigated.
