What is Planting Roots?
Planting Roots is a program initiated by the Township of Wellesley with support from the Grand River Conservation authority to increase the amount of trees within the Township and to reduce our carbon footprint. Trees will be purchased and will be available to Township residents to pick up at the administrative office at 4639 Lobsinger Line in Crosshill. There is NO COST to residents for these trees. Residents are asked to bring identification to show they live in or own property in Wellesley Township.
When?
Tree pick up dates will be Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 and Saturday, October 29th, 2022. Pick up will be from 8:00am – 12:00pm or until supplies run out. There will be 600 trees available each day.
Who can get trees?
Trees are available to every household in the Township. They will be available on a first come, first served basis so be sure to arrive early for the best selection. Residential properties can receive three (3) free trees to plant on their own property and farm properties can receive up to five (5) free trees to plant on their property. Four (4) species of trees will be available, White Spruce, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, and White Oaks. All four species should fit in most standard sized vehicles with the Maple and Oak trees being 5-7 feet tall and white spruce being 2-3 feet tall.
