Notice of Public Meeting - Zoning By-law Amendment 01-26

TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the requirements of the Planning Act the Township of Wellesley has received a complete application (ZBA 01-26) to amend Zoning By-law 28/2006.  The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Wellesley will hold a Public Meeting on the 26th day of May 2026 at 5:45 p.m., for the purpose of receiving comments and to obtain input prior to making a decision.   

NOTE: At the time of posting of this notice the Township is anticipating that this meeting will be held in person at Township Council Chambers (4805 William Hastings Line) in Crosshill. Arrangements for electronic participation in this meeting will also be made available on the Township website at least 48 hours prior to the public meeting. THE PROPOSAL:

The proposed amendment applies to the lands known as 7191 Road 116.  The property is 50 ha (123.4 ac) in area and is designated Prime Agricultural under the Township Official Plan.  The subject lands are zoned Agricultural (A1).

The applicant is seeking to amend section 4.28(a) of the Zoning By-law to permit a non-resident owner to establish and operate an On-Farm-Diversified-Use (OFDU) on the subject lands. The applicant is proposing to construct a 557 m² storage shed on the subject lands to store supplies for an existing OFDU owned by the applicant at 6371 Schummer Line.

Any persons may participate in the public meeting and make written and/or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Wellesley before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Township of Wellesley to the Ontario Land Tribunal.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Wellesley before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the OLT Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal there are reasonable grounds to do so.
