Notice of Public Meeting - Zoning By-law Amendment 01/25

TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the requirements of the Planning Act the Township of Wellesley has received a complete application (ZBA 01-25) to amend Zoning By-law 28/2006.  The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Wellesley will hold a Public Meeting on the 27th day of May 2025 at 5:45 p.m., for the purpose of receiving comments and to obtain input prior to making a decision.

NOTE: At the time of posting of this notice the Township is anticipating that this meeting will be held in person at Township Council Chambers (4805 William Hastings Line) in Crosshill. Arrangements for electronic participation in this meeting will also be made available on the Township website at least 48 hours prior to the public meeting. For additional details please call the Township Clerk 519-699-3946.

THE PROPOSAL:

The proposed amendment applies to the lands known as 5055 Ament Line.  The property is 39.7 ha (98.1 ac) in area and is designated Prime Agriculture under the Township Official Plan.  The subject lands are Zoned Agricultural (A1) and A-113(T).

In 2022 the Township approved a temporary use zoning by-law amendment to allow a sawmill operation to be located on the lands within the cluster of the existing buildings.  The temporary use zoning by-law was valid for 3 years and will expire in May 2025.  The operator of the sawmill has applied to renew the temporary use zoning by-law amendment to allow the sawmill to continue operating for another 3-years.  The operator is not proposing any changes to the operation and the location of the sawmill will still be limited to its current site on the property.

Any persons may participate in the public meeting and make written and/or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Wellesley before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Township of Wellesley to the Ontario Land Tribunal.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Wellesley before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the OLT Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Additional information relating to the proposed application is available from the Township and can be arranged by contacting the Municipal Offices of the Township of Wellesley. Information requests may also be submitted to: Bobby Soosaar, Senior Planner, bsoosaar@wellesley.ca
