Committees
Apple Butter and Cheese Festival Committee
The Wellesley Apple Butter and Cheese Festival has been running since 1976. The festival was formed to promote the town of Wellesley and to attract visitors.
The proceeds from the festival have traditionally been used for major projects within the village of Wellesley, including used for building an arena, buying parkland, building a ball diamond and soccer field, paving the parking lots at the arena and community centre, uptown beautification through proper curbing and brick sidewalks, buying equipment for the fire department, renovating the community centre with a new kitchen and air conditioning, renovating the arena and installing new flooring in the dressing rooms.
As a Committee of Council, the purpose of the Apple Butter & Cheese Festival Committee is to plan, develop and implement the annual Apple Butter & Cheese Festival event in the Township of Wellesley, with assistance from staff. In addition, the Committee will advise and make recommendations to Council regarding distribution of profits from the festival.
The Township of Wellesley's Committee of Adjustment is comprised of two councillors and three members of the public and deals with two types of applications:
- Applications for consent - to request severances, rights of way, easements or leases. An example is severing land to create additional lots or needing a right of way for a joint driveway or shared services.
- Applications for minor variances or permissions - to request variances to the zoning by-law. An example is constructing an addition with less than the required backyard setback.
Please contact Kaitlyn Werth, the secretary for the committee of additional information.

Wellesley Township Heritage and Historical Society
The Wellesley Township Historical Society was established in 1978. Wellesley Township's Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC) was established in 1983 by Wellesley Township By-law 33/83 in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.18, as amended.
In 2006, provincial LACACs were renamed heritage committees using the location name plus the word "Heritage." Wellesley Township Heritage was created by By-law 14/06.
Due to duplication of membership, Wellesley Township Heritage merged with the Wellesley Township Historical Society in 2007 to form the Wellesley Township Heritage and Historical Society (WTHHS).
