- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- Completion of a Pre-Service Firefighter program or related fire/emergency services training or experience is considered an asset
- Possess and maintain the physical strength and agility required to perform strenuous work and competently operate firefighting, rescue, and safety equipment under adverse conditions for prolonged periods, including lifting up to 30 kg or more in a physically demanding environment;
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to support and promote the organization’s shared values;
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, with effective conflict resolution skills;
- Ability and willingness to attend required training and perform tasks and techniques related to fire suppression, fire prevention, and rescue operations;
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times;
- Ability to exercise discretion and tact, and to remain calm and respond quickly in emergency situations;
- Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with members of the public and staff;
- Strong written communication skills;
- Must possess and maintain a valid minimum Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing in the Province of Ontario and obtain and maintain a valid Class “D” License with a “Z” endorsement within two (2) years to advance to First Class Firefighter.

We are seeking dedicated individuals aged 18 and over who can meet the minimum fitness, medical, and administrative requirements and who are prepared to make a meaningful difference when their neighbours need them most. Note: Volunteer Firefighters are compensated for attending emergency scenes, training and performing station duties.
Becoming a Probationary Volunteer Firefighter involves a significant commitment beginning with a comprehensive two-hundred and sixty (260) hour training program.
- Recruits are expected to attend weekly in-person recruit training. Training sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings and every other Saturday or Sunday for a period of approximately six months. In addition, recruits are required to attend Monday evening training and complete several hours of mandatory self study each week throughout the duration of the recruit program.
- 100% attendance is required for the duration of the recruit training program
- The commitment continues beyond recruit training, as Probationary Volunteer Firefighters remain actively engaged in ongoing training, emergency response, and community service.

Qualifications and Requirements
Volunteer Firefighters should:
- Be comfortable in small or confined spaces
- Be comfortable working at heights while standing on ladders and lifting heavy equipment
- Remain calm and composed under pressure
- Follow and understand directions accurately
- Be willing to carry a pager 24/7
- Be available to respond to calls at any time, day and night, in all weather conditions
- Understand the physical demands of the role, including wearing approximately 100 lbs of gear during emergency incidents
Volunteer Firefighters are required to attend and respond the following;
- Fire calls
- Medical calls
- Water rescue calls
- Hazardous material incidents
- Motor vehicle collisions
- Weekly training sessions
- Incidents that may be traumatic and involve members of the community
- Volunteer activities, including public education and outreach
The successful candidate is responsible for providing the following at their own expense:
- Medical Clearance from a licensed medical practitioner confirming the ability to perform sustained intense physical activity and heavy lifting.
