The Region of Waterloo delivers a variety of services to residents of the Township of Wellesley. While Township staff are always available to assist with services provided locally, they can also help direct residents to the appropriate department at the Region of Waterloo to ensure concerns are addressed.

Utilities

A variety of utility providers serve the Township of Wellesley, including natural gas, hydro, internet, and cable TV. For details on available services, please visit the links below.

The primary cable, phone and internet providers in the Township are: Bell, Rogers, Mornington Communications and Xplore. All companies operate and maintain their own services and all questions or inquiries can be directed to the provider.

Hydro utilities in the Township are owned and maintained by Enova Power (Formally Waterloo North Hydro). All questions and inquiries can be directed to Enova Power

Enova Power Corp.

As part of the responsibilities of the Mayor’s office, the Mayor serves as a representative on the Enova Power Corp. Board of Directors, ensuring the Township of Wellesley has a voice in matters related to local energy services.

The City of Waterloo, the Township of Woolwich and the Township of Wellesley are the shareholders of The Enova Energy Corporation. Enova Energy Corporation is owned by the City of Kitchener (53.4%), the City of Waterloo (30.8%), the Township of Woolwich (8.5%), the Township of Wilmot (4.5%), and the Township of Wellesley (2.8%).

Natural gas services are provided by Enbridge Gas (formerly Union Gas) and all questions and inquiries can be forwarded to Enbridge.

Water & Wastewater

The Region of Waterloo is responsible for supplying clean and safe drinking water to the residents of the Township. The wastewater system in the Wellesley Settlement area is managed by the Region of Waterloo and is the only wastewater system in the Township of Wellesley. All other settlement areas operate on private septic systems.

Wellesley residents and businesses with a municipal water and/or wastewater connection receive water bills from the Region of Waterloo Finance Department.

The Region has a paperless billing option as well as a direct withdrawal option adding convenience and flexibility in payment methods for customers.

You can enroll for Pre-authorized Debits from your bank account for water bill payments.

Transportation

The Region of Waterloo is responsible for public transit including Grand River Transit (GRT) and taxi services.

Grand River Transit does not currently have any bus routes in the Township of Wellesley.

Kiwanis Transit provides specialized transit services for residents who can answer yes to one of the following:

65 years of age or older (proof of age required)
Canadian National Institute for the Blind registrant (proof of registration required)
Physically disabled
Developmentally disabled
Have a temporary disability that affects mobility

The Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) is a full-service, customer friendly facility which supports commercial, corporate and general aviation.

The Airport is only 10 minutes from Hwy. 401 and within a 20 minute drive from the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. YKF is easy to navigate with free Wi-Fi, complimentary baggage carts, a licensed lounge and low cost parking.

VIA Rail runs between Kitchener and Toronto, Guelph, London, and Sarnia; the train station is located at 126 Weber St. W, near the corner of Victoria St. in the northeast corner of downtown. Via runs three trains a day in each direction.

GO Transit runs from Kitchener to Toronto via the train station located at 126 Weber St. W in Kitchener.
