Tanker Shuttle Certification

Tanker Shuttle Certification may save you money on your insurance premiums.

In June 2023 The Township of Wellesley Fire Department was successful in achieving The Industrial Commercial rating for Fire Department Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation.

During the testing process our flow achieved was 657 I.G.P.M, which is a significant increase from the previous Residential Rating of 425 I.G.P.M. To achieve accreditation the Fire Department must fill tankers and truck water 10 K.M., to an unloading site and then dump water in to portable water tanks. The water is then pumped by one of our pumpers, at a rate of 425 I.G.P.M. for a period of two hours without a fluctuation in the flow rate.

The Township of Wellesley Fire Rescue Services were successful in acquiring the commercial accreditation in the following areas: Linwood, St Clements and Wellesley. This is a 232 gallon per min increase from the previous residential rating. This has been made possible by upgrading our fire protection equipment specifically two new tankers and portable pumps with higher flow volumes. Along with the dedicated Firefighters who trained repetitively to achieve this high standard in water supply delivery.

Homes within 8km of any of these fire halls may have the opportunity for a reduction in insurance premiums. You must check with your insurance company as some do not recognize the superior tanker shuttle accreditation.

Commercial properties within 5 km of any of these fire halls may also apply with their insurance company for a reduction in insurance premiums
