Pools and Fences
A permit is required when installing an in ground or above ground pool. Blow- up pools and temporary pools that can hold 0.8 m (31 ½") or more of water also need a permit.
Apply for a pool permit
To apply for a pool permit, following documents are needed
- Application to construct or demolish
- Two copies of detailed site plan drawn to scale showing fence, pool, pool equipment, property line setbacks, septic tank and bed location. The contractor or the home owner can complete this.
- Lot grading plan (if applicable) completed by and Ontario Land Surveyor or Professional Engineer.
Setbacks and regulations
A swimming pool must comply with the zoning by-law for the property. Please see section 4 of the zoning by-law for swimming pool setbacks.
Pool fences
All swimming pool fences and gates must comply with Section 4 (a to h) of the Township of Wellesley's Fence By-Law.
Lot grading plan for in ground pools
A lot grading plan may be required for in ground pools in residential settlement areas. If your property does not have an existing lot grading plan, it will be required with the permit application.
Hot tubs
Hot tubs with ridged lockable covers do not require a permit.
