Tanker Shuttle Certification
Tanker Shuttle Certification may save you money on your insurance premiums.
In June 2018 The Township of Wellesley Fire Department was successful in achieving The Industrial Commercial rating for Fire Department Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation.
During the testing process our flow achieved was 425 I.G.P.M, which is a significant increase from the previous Residential Rating of 200 I.G.P.M. To achieve accreditation the Fire Department must fill tankers and truck water 10 K.M., to an unloading site and then dump water in to portable water tanks. The water is then pumped by one of our pumpers, at a rate of 425 I.G.P.M. for a period of two hours without a fluctuation in the flow rate.
The Township of Wellesley Fire Rescue Services were successful in acquiring the commercial accreditation in the following areas: Linwood, St Clements and Wellesley. This is a 225 gallon per min increase from the previous residential rating. This has been made possible by upgrading our fire protection equipment specifically two new tankers and portable pumps with higher flow volumes. Along with the dedicated Firefighters who trained repetitively to achieve this high standard in water supply delivery.
Homes within 8km of any of these fire halls may have the opportunity for a reduction in insurance premiums. You must check with your insurance company as some do not recognize the superior tanker shuttle accreditation.
Commercial properties within 5 km of any of these fire halls may also apply with their insurance company for a reduction in insurance premiums
Firefit
The Township of Wellesley Fire Department is proudly represented at Firefit Firefighter competitions provincially and nationally by our Firefit team. Made up of members volunteering their time, they train together at least 3-4 times a week as well as on their own. The team has managed to cover the bulk of their costs through donations and fundraising events and have even built many of their own training props. Beginning in the summer of 2015 with an all-female team Wellesley took gold in the Point Edward ON regional event and bronze in the Kitchener ON nationals. In 2016 the team became mixed and took bronze in mixed relays at regional events in Port Elgin ON, Oshawa ON and nationals in Calgary AB! The team continues to work hard training and fundraising for the upcoming season, don't miss the opportunity to see our local firefighters race in the "toughest two minutes in sports" find 2017 dates and information here https://firefit.com/
